Toss the Caps, It's Graduation Season!

What to Write in a Graduation Card

It’s graduation season and millions of students across the country are getting ready to mark the end of an era.  Once they cross that stage, a new chapter begins.  Every graduate has a different path - how they got to where they are today, and how they’ll get to their next step in life.

Some students head off to additional schooling, trade school or apprenticeships and some head right into the workforce or join our Armed Forces.  There’s no right or wrong answer; there’s not one path to success.  It’s important when offering congratulations and best wishes that you remain sensitive to the options graduates have and be supportive of their choices.  By all means, if you know specifics, feel free to get specific:

“Good luck as you head off to pursue your accounting degree.”

“We look forward to watching you succeed as you start your journey at XYZ job.”

“We admire your hard work and dedication in and out of school and know that you will be successful as you begin your military career.”

But if you don’t know the specifics, play it safe and keep it generic.  Lean on their past… you know where they are graduating from so speak to that if you wish:

“We are so proud of your hard work at XYZ School and know you will do great in your chapter of life.”

“We enjoyed watching you grow and succeed at XYZ School. You’ve built a great foundation for your future. Best of luck to you.”

“Congratulations on all your hard work. You’ve made it so far and we can’t wait to see what you do next.”

Other options to consider including in your sentiments:

Remember not only can you congratulate them on their current success but wish them well on their future endeavors.

Congratulations Graduates!
